Alternatives to Cold Weather Workouts
It’s COLD! To many of us, exercising in the cold is no fun. Here are some alternatives to getting your heart rate up while avoiding those blistering winds and temperatures.
- Download an exercise app. The list is countless.
- Try Netflix or Prime videos for your perfect exercise workout.
- Exercise in the pool or try water running. Locally you can use the pool at Quality Inn and Suites in Draffenville or the Paducah Athletic Club (PAC).
- Mall walk or walk larger stores like Walmart. Walk during the less hectic times. Later in the evening or mid-morning seem less busy.
- Create a home gym using the basics. Bodyweight exercise is challenging but you can easily add resistance with exercise bands or small weights.
- Play with your kids.
- Turn your favorite music on and DANCE!
- Take your kids to the Trampoline Park and participate. Paducah has Vertical Jump. You’ll be quickly breathing hard after jumping.
- Perform basic cardio exercises if safe and right for you. Try activities like jumping jacks, burpees, stairs, high knees, jump rope, mountain climbers or chair step ups.
- Start a personal challenge or get a friend involved. Try a virtual workout match and see who wins.
- Join a local gym. We have some great local gyms such as Mega Gym, Snap Fitness and Glycotic Fitness. Don’t forget other options: CrossFit, Valor, or No Boundaries.
Stay fit, motivated, and challenged!
